More Than Aesthetics: Expanding the Role of Color in Rotomolding Performance

For experienced rotomolders, color has never been simply about appearance. Pigment selection, outdoor exposure, regulatory requirements, processing considerations, and long-term performance are familiar parts of developing a successful rotationally molded product. But advances in pigment and additive technologies are creating new opportunities to use color as an even broader performance tool. This session will explore several of those opportunities, with a particular focus on managing heat build-up in outdoor applications.

The session will also consider the relationship between pigment technology and factors such as cooling behavior and warpage. While some of these benefits are established in other plastics applications and require further evaluation in rotational molding, they represent promising areas for collaboration and application development.

Ultimately, the session will provide a color concentrate and dry color supplier’s perspective on how formulation expertise can complement the rotomolder’s process knowledge, creating opportunities to address color and additive product differentiation through a more strategic approach to color and additives.
